What Is Coal?
Coal is a naturally occurring, carbon rich energy resource formed 360 to 300 million years ago during the Carboniferous Period. Over millions of years, ancient forests and plant matter were buried, compressed, and transformed into the high carbon fuels that power today’s industrial world.
Types of Coal & Their Uses
Metallurgical Coal (Met Coal)
Essential for steelmaking, where it is converted into coke for blast furnace operations.
High Carbon Anthracite Coal
Ultra high carbon content used in ferro alloys, sintering, carbon additives, and premium industrial applications.
Petroleum Coke (Pet Coke)
A refinery derived carbon product used in cement kilns, power plants, and high temperature industrial processes.
Thermal Coal
Primarily used for electricity generation and industrial heating due to its strong calorific value.
